Ethan Wheatley has signed his first-ever professional contract at Manchester United.
The academy prospect has come into his own this season for the under-18s, putting in some fine performances across the campaign.
Wheatley is part of a massively successful side that has been on a winning run in the league, with 11 wins from 11 games this season.
Now he’s been rewarded with his first-ever professional contract at the club.
Ethan Wheatley signs first-ever professional Manchester United contract
The young forward took to Instagram to confirm his new deal at Old Trafford. He wrote:
‘Proud moment for me to sign my first professional contract @manchesterunited . Thanks to my family and all of those who have made this possible. The hard work continues.’
Lots of his academy teammates have since reacted with praise and congratulating Wheatley on his new deal.
This includes the likes of Jack Fletcher, Toby Collyer and Joe Hugill – who is currently smashing it on loan at Burton Albion.
Ethan Wheatley, one to watch for the future?
Featuring prominently for the academy sides, Wheatley now features up top for the under-18s. He’s been in great goalscoring form this season, most recently making a huge statement to Erik ten Hag with four goals in one game.
The teenager is a skilful striker, able to hold the ball up and turn quickly inside the penalty box, and he is comfortable scoring with either foot. Something United are definitely in the market for at the moment.
Ten Hag will have had his eye on Wheatley, is now the time to take note as he begins his professional career at United?
At just 18, he has a lot of time to develop, but this contract is the first step for Manchester United to turn him into a world-beater. He has all the fundamentals, but just as he said, now ‘the hard work continues.’
