Manchester United’s season is over, but the academy lot has still been playing in various tournaments.
As we’ve seen at Manchester United this season, the academy is one of the most valuable assets for the Red Devils. Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho have been two of the best players in Manchester United’s first-team squad.
There’s also a plethora of names just waiting to break through. The likes of Ethan Wheatley, Shea Lacey and Jack Fletcher among others should be names we see lighting up Old Trafford in the future.
But below these ages, there’s even more talent, including Silva Mexes who signed this week for Manchester United.
Silva Mexes plays for Manchester United, emulates Neymar
Silva Mexes was spotted playing in a Manchester United shirt for the first time playing against RB Leipzig in the KDB Cup.
The son of ex-Premier League forward Robert Earnshaw’s first footage in red, or should we say green and white, was filmed which had him pulling off the ‘Neymar touch’ from a long ball. It can be viewed in the video below.
To try this trickery at just 14 years old is mightily impressive and a sign that he could be one to watch in the future.
Under 15s lose to Barcelona and Palmeiras, Nkoto brothers feature
Academy Arena on X also reported that the U15s side lost to Barcelona, with brothers Bassirou Nkoto and Douka Nkoto featuring, which is intriguing to see another pair of siblings coming through the system.
The Red Devils lost the game 2-1, but according to the source, had taken essentially a U14s side to a U15s tournament, which happens often for Manchester United.
Yesterday, the same side also lost 1-0 to a Brazilian club Palmeiras. The result against Leipzig is unknown. Not a great competition for them, but you have to remember they are playing above their age range.
