Manchester United’s academy is in a golden age right now with a handful of superb talents in each age category.
Carrington has a rich history of producing talented players who have gone on to shine in the first team for Manchester United.
Historically, club legends such as Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham have come through the academy during the world-renowned Class of ’92.
Meanwhile, more recently the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo are all graduates.
Currently, there is also an incredible wealth of talent coming through with Ethan Williams, Shea Lacey, Harry Amass and Amir Ibragimov all predicted to have top-class potential.
But there’s a youngster even below the U16s who is showing promising signs already as he looks to follow in his dad’s footsteps, it’s Wayne Rooney‘s oldest son Kai Rooney.
Wayne Rooney’s son Kai impresses for U14s vs Everton
Proving that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, Rooney has just put in an absolute masterclass against Everton on Thursday.
He took to Instagram to share how the game went, stating that United enjoyed a 6-4 win with Rooney scoring three and assisting two, which shows how talented he is.
Holding that legendary football name, thanks to Wayne being arguably United’s best player ever, and the club’s record top scorer, hopes have always been high.
Despite hopes being high, the 14-year-old is living up to them and now potentially only a year or two from U18 action, he’s still a cut above his peers which should bode well for his development.
Rooney reaching the first-team would be a real fairytale story for Manchester United
While yes it is still years away right now, it’s hard to ignore the incredible moment that could be another Rooney breaking through at United, 20 years after the original one did it.
Being so dominant at his level can only be a good sign and should point toward him being among the best in his age group which could also mean he’s quick to rise through the age categories and an U18 appearance could be closer than expected.
It would be a momentous moment if he did go on to be a star for the club following in his dad’s footsteps but right now that’s not something worth burdening him with. Although his performances do deserve praise.
