Manchester United youngster Ethan Williams made a big impression in 2023 and will be looking to do the same in 2024.

Ethan Williams was one of the standout players for Manchester United’s academy sides last season, with the converter belt of talent at Carrington showing no signs of slowing down.

The 18-year-old scored 11 goals through 2023 and provided a further 10 assists in all competitions, with seven of those goals coming this season already.

Williams struck the winner in the recent FA Youth Cup game at Old Trafford, a 1-0 win against Derby County.

Ethan Williams is stepping up

Manchester United appear to have recognised Ethan Williams’ progress, as he has quickly been moved up to under-21 football.

After scoring once and providing two assists in the under-18s opening game of the season, Williams was promoted, where he has mixed in with the under-21 squad, even if he is not a regular starter.

He has seen action in various competitions, and on his only league start for the under-21s he scored two goals.

Signed from Rochdale in 2019, Williams plays as a winger, most comfortable on the left but also capable of switching to the right, and he has also spent time training with Erik ten Hag’s first team.

The 18-year-old is a player with a big future, who could have a role to play in pre-season 2024, if not beforehand.

Williams will continue to have a role for the under-18s as the FA Youth Cup campaign continues, where he will look to follow the path blazed by Alejandro Garnacho in 2022.

2023 was a really impressive year for him, and another 12 months full of goals and assists will see his reputation soar and a potential first team debut to follow.
