Manchester United are keen to strengthen the academy this summer and now has an interest in one of England’s best prospects.
The academy has long been closely tied to the first team at Manchester United, with some of the club’s biggest legends and stars emerging from the youth set-up.
The Class of ’92 are probably the biggest example of this, but we’ve even seen it in the past decade with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo all coming out of the academy and straight into the senior squad where they have been pivotal.
Right now in the academy, there are bags of talent, with the U18s winning the treble last season and having multiple players thought capable of following in the footsteps of the greats.
But United are also keen to add to the ranks at Carrington and have now shown an interest in one of the best 16-year-olds in the country.
Manchester United showing interest in Mikey Moore
Having already added to the academy with a handful of impressive signings – such as Samuel Lusale -, United have also shown their fondness for the crown jewel of England’s U17 squad, Mikey Moore.
United in Focus can report this after exclusively speaking with HITC’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey.
It’s understood that United are one of a number of clubs to be interested in Moore this summer ahead of his 17th birthday next month.
However, it’s also understood that Tottenham believe Moore has little interest in departing the club, with Ange Postecoglou seeing him as having a big future at the club.
Interest in a player like Moore is almost expected, but interest is as far as things have progressed thus far.
However, given his talent interest is unlikely to end, so this could be a move to keep an eye on over the next few months and years to see if Moore grows weary at Spurs.

Who is Mikey Moore?
Moore is Tottenham’s 16-year-old versatile forward who has come up through their academy and even made his senior debut already.
For Tottenham’s U18 side, Moore has made 24 appearances with 19 goals and 13 assists, which is quite a remarkable tally considering it was his first season at the level.
Moore is also an England U17s big scorer with 10 goals in 12 caps thus far in his young international career.
Speaking on The Spurs Chat podcast, Josh Hughes explained just how special a talent Moore is.
“Mikey Moore has bypassed the U21s and has come straight into the first-team. The talent is so crazy and off the charts for him. There’s not a single club in the world who wouldn’t take a Mikey Moore.”
With this in mind and his status as one of England’s best prospects, hopefully, this isn’t the last time we hear of him and United in the same sentence as he could be phenomenal.
