Manchester United youngster Ashton Missin has become the latest young player to commit his future to the club.
17-year-old winger Ashton Missin has signed a professional contract with Manchester United.
Missin shared an image on Instagram as he put pen to paper on a new deal.
He wrote: “Proud moment for me and my family to sign my first professional contract.”
Ashton Missin looking to build on strong year
Ashton Missin is coming off a strong year in Manchester United’s academy, after making the step up to the under-18s.
Missin actually made his under-18s debut at the end of the previous season, 2022/23, and continued into 23/24.
Last season he also featured in the UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup, scoring four goals and providing two assists at under-18 level.
In late January he was promoted to the under-21s for the first time, and a month later, on his first start at under-21 level, he managed to get on the scoresheet, in a clash away at Middlesbrough.
Missin is a quick, direct winger, who played on both the right and left side last season. He will be looking to continue his positive progress next season.
Manchester United teammates react
Ashton Missin’s new Manchester United contract was welcomed by his teammates, who made clear their support.
Left-back Harry Amass wrote, “Deserved brother,” in response, with Shea Lacey similarly adding, “Deserve it brother.”
Ethan Wheatley and Dan Gore were among those to congratulate him, along with recently released striker Charlie McNeill.
Missin has a way to go before we see him in Manchester United’s first team, but the young winger can be very pleased with the early progress he has made in his fledgling career.
