Just when it looked like a line had been drawn under the sand, quite literally in this case, a new twist has arrived.

Days after Jadon Sancho made an encouraging and unexpected return to Manchester United’s first team, renewed noise about his future emerged.

It looked like the winger’s time at United was up after falling out publicly with Ten Hag but not only did he get reintegrated into the team, he also impressed vs Rangers.

Still, the fact remains that he has underachieved at the club, and due to his wages, United would probably remain open to offers for him. Paris Saint-Germain might give them a decision to make soon.

Jadon Sancho receives PSG proposal

It is no secret that PSG are reeling from the departure of Kylian Mbappe, who left on a free transfer to Real Madrid.

The Ligue 1 side are hardly wanting for money but the departure of arguably the world’s best player for zero cost has dented their image in world football.

Consequently, they have been on the hunt for new superstars in attack and former United target Victor Osimhen has been linked, along with Marcus Rashford.

As per Santi Aouna, Rashford is not the only United winger they want, as PSG have made a contract proposal to Sancho.

The player is reportedly “extremely excited” by the project put forward and the agreement between the two parties is already close.

The next stage will be to finalise a fee with United but that should be the easier part in this case since getting Sancho to agree a contract comparable to his United one has been the issue all along.

Golden opportunity for United

In the euphoria of Sancho’s unexpected return to the club, it has been somewhat forgotten that even before falling out with the manager, the player just didn’t look suited to United and the Premier League.

Add to that his humongous wages, and the opportunity to make money off him and not having to pay a portion of it is too good to pass up.

So far, the teams who have reportedly shown an interest in the player are ones who can’t afford to match his United salary.

That means one of two things- either United take a huge loss on the transfer fee or they pay a portion of the wage to effectively have Sancho playing against them.

If the agreement with PSG is close, it means Sancho is happy with the terms offered. Considering their monetary strength and their competitive standing, it is the best of both worlds for both United and Sancho.

He can continue playing at the top level without taking a pay cut, while United can make a small profit on him after amortisation while freeing up millions in wages.

Reintegration or not, line drawn in the sand or not, this is simply a deal too good to pass up for United when looked at through the lens of Sancho’s whole career at Old Trafford.
