PSG stance on Manuel Ugarte
Paris Saint-Germain are willing to sell Manuel Ugarte in order to create space and finance a move for Benfica midfielder Joao Neves.
The Portugal midfielder was at one stage a target for Manchester United, yet looks to be too costly with Benfica insisting clubs pay close to Joao Neves’ release clause.
Fabrizio Romano reports via X that Manchester United have a chance to land Ugarte.
He writes: “Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to let Manu Ugarte leave with destination Manchester United as they want João Neves at all costs. After agreement João-PSG, talks are still ongoing with Benfica over fee.
“Man United and PSG also still in talks over Ugarte fee.”
Ugarte has agreed personal terms
Fabrizio Romano has already reported that Manuel Ugarte has agreed personal terms with Manchester United.
This Ugarte update created a lot of excitement among Manchester United fans, impressed at the speed Ineos appear to be working.
Importantly, it demonstrates Ugarte’s desire to move to United, enhancing the chances of a deal getting done.
United expected to let Casemiro leave
Manchester United could create space and funds for Ugarte by selling Casemiro, potentially to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.
This may have taken a step forward amid claims via The Guardian that Al-Ittihad could sell Ngolo Kante to West Ham.
It all looks to be falling into place for United. The deal won’t be instant, but expect United to try and push Ugarte’s move through before the pre-season tour.
