Details on Leny Yoro’s Manchester United move have been shared after he completed his move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have completed their second signing of the summer with 18-year-old defender Leny Yoro joining Erik ten Hag’s side.
United have already confirmed the signing of Joshua Zirkzee, with the exciting Dutch striker joining on a five-year contract.
Yoro joins United from Lille after all parties agreed to a £52million deal which includes additional add-ons which will total to £58.9 million.
Real Madrid were also in the race to sign the teenage defender but United beat the La Liga giants to his signature in what is a statement signing for Ineos during their first window as minority owners.
United winning the race for Yoro raised eyebrows across Europe and now details around the add-ons to his deal have been revealed.
Julien Laurens explains Leny Yoro to Man United details
United now have their hands on one of the most exciting young talents in Europe but they had to reach deep into their pockets to get a deal over the line.
The £52million fee is hefty but it could be a deal looked back on as a bargain in Yoro lives up to his lofty expectations.
French journalist Julien Laurens has revealed more details on the Yoro deal which show that United will have to fork out millions more next season.
Speaking on ESPN, Laurens said “United said forget about all of this, here is €62million and €8million in bonuses – €4million of that is easily reachable.
“So really it is not a €62million fee, it is €66million as the €4million extra will be on appearances and things he will trigger in his first season.
“So €66million for somebody who is free in 12 months and only played 50-odd games as a professional. I can see why people are saying this is huge. Only time will tell who is right.”
Leny Yoro may be worth the money
According to Laurens, United will have no choice but to fork out just over £3million in add-ons for Yoro next season.
But tying such an exciting youngster down to a long-term deal is certainly worth paying for.
United have got their transfer strategy so wrong in recent years but the deal for Yoro signals a focus towards youth and a long-term plan.
If he performs strongly in his first season, like Lisandro Martinez did, then nobody will be talking about the fee.
