The Class of ’92 refers to a group of six Manchester United players who were part of the youth team in the early 1990s – who all went on to achieve great success with the club.

Manchester United‘s academy setup is known throughout the footballing world for producing some of the finest arrays of talent in the club’s history. They’ve had some phenomenal players coming out of the academy.

The likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho have all surfaced in recent years, but these stars don’t yet come close to the lads that Sir Alex Ferguson brought through.

They’re known as the Class of ’92. Let’s meet the Manchester United men.

David Beckham is the first member, who went on to become one of the best number sevens in Manchester United history.

Beckham ended up playing 394 times for the Red Devils, scoring 85 goals in the process and establishing himself as a club legend.

He is also one of the most famous footballers worldwide, thanks to his fame off the pitch.

Nicky Butt was also part of the Class of ’92 and was criminally underrated as a player.

Butt ended up playing 387 times for Manchester United’s first-team squad scoring 26 goals and obtaining 21 assists.

He is probably the member of the six most easily forgotten, but was integral to United’s setup for many years.

Ryan Giggs went on to become the most capped and most decorated Manchester United man in history, playing for the Red Devils up until the age of 40.

Over an insane 23 years at Old Trafford, Giggs amassed 963 games for United, scoring 167 goals and obtaining 262 assists.

It’s a shame his off-field antics have somewhat damaged his reputation as what was a simply phenomenal footballer.

Gary Neville has become one of the faces of Manchester United – on and off the pitch. The right-back was another to see out his whole career around Carrington.

He played a whopping 602 times, scoring seven times and assisting 46 – but winning almost every trophy under the sun. Neville was also a top, top player – even if he doesn’t think so himself.

Neville now works as a pundit and commentator – giving honest assessments and analysis on the current Manchester United squad.

Phil Neville is often just known as the ‘brother of Gary’, but many forget what a fantastic asset Phil was to Manchester United in his prime.

He played 381 times in red, scoring eight goals and assisting 20. He then moved to Everton, where he spent the remainder of his career.

Not often someone can say you’ve won the Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup all in one season with your brother!

Paul Scholes

Probably the player with the most ability from the six, Paul Scholes went on to become not just a United legend, but a legend of the game.

Scholes played 216 times, scoring 155 goals and assisting 82 times. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders to ever grace the game.

He, like Neville, has gone into punditry in his retirement, often moaning about the current state of Manchester United.

Was anyone else in Manchester United’s Class of ’92?

There was, but they didn’t exactly make it for Manchester United. A few played, but didn’t achieve the heights of the prior six. Other academy graduates in 1992 include:
