Manchester United have made a real habit of signing Erik ten Hag’s former players and may yet add two more to his squad this summer.
Ever since Erik ten Hag was appointed as Manchester United boss back in 2022, he has shown a real desire to bring in some of his former players.
Lisandro Martinez quickly followed Ten Hag from Ajax to Old Trafford before Antony followed suit towards the end of the summer window.
United were back at it again last summer, first landing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana after he served as Ten Hag’s stopper in Amsterdam.
Sofyan Amrabat arrived on loan from Fiorentina too, reuniting with Ten Hag having worked together at FC Utrecht.
Amrabat’s permanent option isn’t being taken up but United may still renegotiate a deal to bring the midfielder back to Manchester.
Manchester United want Noussair Mazraoui
United are now in the market for two more of Ten Hag’s former players.
The first is Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt, who has already told Bayern that he wants to join United.
Reports suggest that United have failed with a new bid of around £29.5million for De Ligt, leaving the ball back in United’s court.
United may be back on the phone to Bayern pretty quickly though – and to just to increase that bid for De Ligt.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that United are now ‘exploring’ a deal to sign Bayern right back Noussair Mazraoui.
The Morocco international played under Ten Hag at Ajax and featured alongside De Ligt there too.
Mazraoui is thought to be ‘at the top of the list’ for United and he is now keen to play in the Premier League.
Plettenberg adds that Bayern actually wanted around €30million (£25.3million) for Mazraoui but now want around €20million to €25million (£17million to £21million).
Plettenberg feels that a more realistic price is €15million to €20million (£12.5million to £17million).

Mazraoui could replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Reports of United wanting another right back come amid interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
United are allegedly expecting ‘serious’ interest in Wan-Bissaka this summer with a move seemingly a real possibility as he enters the final year of his contract.
Plettenberg adds that United are ‘seriously considering’ signing Mazraoui to replace Wan-Bissaka – who is also wanted by West Ham.
United have allegedly lowered the asking price for Wan-Bissaka to just £10million in an attempt to get him moved on.
That could pave the way for Mazraoui to come in as competition for Diogo Dalot with Ten Hag finally landing his man.
Ten Hag allegedly asked United to hijack Bayern’s move to sign Mazraoui as he arrived as United boss.
Mazraoui chose Bayern at the time but United are knocking once again – and now could be the time to land the right back.
