Leny Yoro speaks out

Leny Yoro has issued his first words as a Manchester United player following confirmation of the transfer deal.

Yoro explained via club media: “Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour.

“Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project, and showed a lot of care for me and my family.

“I know about the history of young players at Manchester United and feel it can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions, together with my new team-mates. I cannot wait to get started.”

How the Leny Yoro move came together

Manchester United were able to convince Yoro to join and forget Real Madrid, with an aggressive pitch to make him one of the team’s superstar players.

Real did not match Manchester United’s offer, and Lille’s president urged Yoro to take the deal with United.

The move has been greeted with great excitement among Manchester United fans. He becomes the club’s second signing of the summer, following Joshua Zirkzee.

It is just four days since Zirkzee’s deal was confirmed, with Manchester United moving quickly to add new faces in advance of the pre-season tour.
