There has been a mass exodus at Manchester United this summer – one player the club want to hold onto is the club captain.
United fans are being treated to quick transfer business for the first time in years with the club’s new ownership structure wasting no time in the summer window.
Deals for Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro have already been completed, with the latter making his first appearance for the club in the 2-0 win over Rangers.
But equally impressive has been United’s ability to offload players this summer – something the club has struggled with in previous windows.
The clearout began with Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial leaving as free agents and the sale of Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, Alvaro Carreras and Donny van de Beek has followed.
Reports from France suggest United are now receiving more interest – this time in captain Bruno Fernandes.
PSG have ‘significant interest’ in Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes is one of very few United signings over the past decade that have turned out to be a glowing success for the club.
But towards the end of last season, he was linked with a shock summer exit amid interest from Bayern Munich.
Whispers about him potentially leaving grew louder when Fabrizio Romano revealed that Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinho met with several European sides over the summer.
Now, French outlet L’Equipe report that there is “significant interest” in Fernandes from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
United are already in talks with PSG over Manuel Ugarte with the French giants open to selling the Uruguayan to help accelerate their pursuit of Joao Neves.
Bruno Fernandes is key to Manchester United
After such a promising start to the transfer window, deciding to part ways with Fernandes would be a backward step.
Not only is the 29-year-old the club captain, but he is also a creative machine in the heart of midfield.
With United looking to get Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund firing on all cylinders next season, they will need a creative-minded midfielder behind them and there is none better than Fernandes.
