Arsenal legend Ian Wright and former Liverpool striker Michael Owen have dropped their respective Premier League top-four predictions for Manchester United.

Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League table and are six points adrift of fifth-place Tottenham in the race for the top four this season.

Erik ten Hag’s men are also nine points behind fourth-place Aston Villa, although United have a match in hand and could reduce the margin to six.

The Red Devils won their first four Premier League matches in February before United slipped to back-to-back league defeats.

Erik ten Hag’s side were stunned in a 2-1 loss to Fulham at Old Trafford before Manchester City inflicted a 3-1 defeat in the Manchester derby at the Etihad.

However, United bounced back before the March international break with a 2-0 Premier League win over Everton at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils also kept their FA Cup hopes alive, with United producing a stunning 4-3 win over Premier League rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford last week.

Ian Wright’s Premier League prediction for Man Utd

Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, former Arsenal striker Ian Wright made his prediction for Manchester United’s top-four Premier League challenge.

The 60-year-old pundit compared the run of fixtures between United, Aston Villa and Tottenham, with Wright convinced that the Red Devils have the “easiest” matches.

Despite still needing to face Liverpool and Arsenal at home, Wright refused to rule out the possibility of United climbing into the top four before the end of the season.

The ex-Gunners star added that Aston Villa still need to face the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, with Wright predicting that they could drop points.

“I think Man United [have] got the easiest,” Wright said.

“When you look at, I know they’ve got Arsenal […]. Simply because if they can garner anything from that result the other day, which they try and do something even though it was all in – they put all their chips into that game – you look at that [and] if they can get something going, you look at that run-in and yes, you look at Arsenal there, obviously Liverpool, I think that they’ve got a very good chance depending on how… you look at Villa, they’ve got City, they’ve got Arsenal, they’ve got Liverpool. They could drop points there. They could drop points there.”

Owen disagrees with Wright’s Man Utd prediction

Former United player Michael Owen disagreed with Wright and argued that the Red Devils would be unable to close the points deficit on Villa in their run of the fixtures.

Despite agreeing with Wright that there is an opening for United, Owen is far from convinced that United could pull it off in their remaining 10 league matches.

“There will be an opening there,” he said.

“Wrighty [Ian Wright] touched on it, I don’t think Manchester United are good enough to take it – I don’t think they’re good enough to claw back nine points against a good Aston Villa team.”

United manager Ten Hag has previously said that the Premier League top four is a top objective alongside challenging for the FA Cup this season.
