Harry Kane could have achieved ludicrous things at Manchester United.

The English striker was linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, when Erik ten Hag was looking for a striker to bolster his first-team squad.

The Red Devils didn’t get Harry Kane, fearing a deal was too difficult. Instead, he departed to Bayern Munich – where he’s been tearing it up ever since. A couple of trophies in Germany will cement legendary status for the 30-year-old forward.

Despite the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund, Kane was a huge missed opportunity for Manchester United. He’s not far off the ultimate striker.

Harry Kane names three ex-Man Utd stars in his ‘ultimate striker’

Speaking of which, ESPN tasked Kane to pick his ‘ultimate striker’, to which he included three ex-Manchester United stars to make his perfect number nine.

The ultimate striker comprised eight components, and he picked a past or present player to represent each. This included the following:

A star-studded list of names there, with the three former United players obviously being Edinson Cavani, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

Harry Kane knows his stuff

Kane’s creation would be one hell of a player.

Ronaldo was one of the players in his prime that possessed blistering speed which would terrorise defences. It was a huge part of why he was so successful down that left wing in Manchester during his younger years.

Rooney was one of the masters of linking up play. The club’s record-leading goalscorer had as keen an eye for an assist as he did for a goal. He really was a complete forward.

A surprising addition was Cavani, who was signed on a free by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer back in 2020.

Come to think of it, we can’t think of many forwards with better movement than the Uruguayan in his prime, particularly at PSG. Greatness recognises greatness. Harry Kane knows ball.
