Approaching a full two years after his Manchester United exit was confirmed, Edinson Cavani is across the world enjoying his football in South America.

After a one year stint in La Liga with Valencia, Edinson Cavani is currently starring for Boca Juniors in Argentina.

The 36-year-old helped Boca reach the Copa Libertadores final at the end of last year, before their final defeat to Brazilian side Fluminense.

Work is ongoing at the Argentine club to try and get the most out of the legendary Uruguayan striker while they can.

Manchester United star wanted at Boca Juniors

Boca Juniors supremo Juan Roman Riquelme has his sights set on another Manchester United player, who he hopes will become available.

According to Boca Noticias, Riquelme is targeting winger Facundo Pellistri, who is regarded by the club as ‘ideal’ to add alongside Cavani.

Pellistri knows Cavani from their time at Manchester United, they even signed on the same day in October 2020. While they did not actually play together for the Red Devils, because the winger was sent out on loan to Alaves.

The pair have played together for the Uruguay national team, and their connection could be useful for Boca.

Cavani so far has a total of only three goals in 16 appearances for Boca, and having made an investment in the forward, the club want to work out a way how to get more out of him.

Boca are reported to want Pellistri on loan, and Riquelme is said to be ‘excited’ about the potential for a deal and is stepping up efforts.

Goal reported how Boca were keen on Pellistri in the summer. Manchester United chose not to loan him out.

There are further Manchester United connections at Boca, with goalkeeper Sergio Romero and defender Marcos Rojo on the books.

Pellistri has uncertain future

Manchester United have been allowing a number of fringe players to leave the club on loan, and Pellistri is expected to be one of them.

There is interest from across the world, with MLS side LA Galaxy and Dutch club PSV Eindhoven among those keen, The Mail report.

Whether Pellistri would be keen on a move to Boca is unclear, but there may be temptation to link up again with Cavani, one more time.
