Edinson Cavani has been struck down by ‘black magic’ as the former Manchester United striker endures a goal drought at Argentinian outfit Boca Juniors, with an astrologist asking supporters to ‘pray’ for his return to form.

Now, perhaps there is a simpler explanation.

At the age of 37, maybe it’s as straightforward as Father Time catching up with Edinson Cavani, one of the modern era’s most prolific centre-forwards slowing down in the autumn of an outstanding career.

Well, Giorgio Armas is not having any of that.

Speaking to Ole, Armas believes there must be a rather more sinister reason why the former Manchester United frontman has scored only three goals in 19 games since returning to South America with Argentine giants Boca Juniors.

Manchester United icon struck down by ‘black magic’

“Black magic,” Giorgio Armas dramatically declares, via Tuttomercatoweb, presumably in an ominous whisper.

“He looks good. The predictions of the stars were on his side and it is not possible that he won’t score goals. This is why I think he was the victim of a spell.”

Cavani, who has spent two years at Manchester United until 2022 and became an immediate fans’ favourite due to his fearsome movement and emphatic finishing, has certainly had little luck since joining Boca, losing in extra time to Fluminense in the Copa Libertadores final in December.

Armas, meanwhile, is imploring the Boca fans to free Cavani from his curse in the only way he knows how.

Edinson Cavani backed to find form again

“I opened the portal for Cavani’s ritual,” Armas adds. “Now it’s up to you (the fans). All I need is for you to grab Cavani’s photo and visualize with your left hand a black candle and, with your right hand, any image of Cavani.

“You have to visualize positively, ask for the goals. Visualise the games, the dates, the goals. Pray. Ask. Please let go of the negative, all the evil, all the witchcraft.”

Boca Juniors face bitter rivals River Plate this weekend. And what better time than this for Cavani to exercise those ghosts?
