Some Manchester United legends will feature in an all-new ‘first of its kind’ tournament with its opening game held in Dubai.
The Legend’s Football League is a ‘first of its kind in the world‘ tournament set to be held later this month, with the first game taking place in the UAE.
It will have a launch with an opening ceremony, followed by an enthralling game between the Steel Doctor Red Devils, or as we know them Manchester United, and a World XI.
Here’s everything we know about it so far.
What is the Legend’s Football League?
The Legends Football League is an all-new tournament set to feature some of Manchester United’s and the world’s best-ever players.
The games are set to be played over 90 minutes, but this isn’t your average football match. The Legends Football League will have something called ‘Impact Players’.
This could be a current football superstar or a celebrity – which will surely set for a crazy affair. To add to the excitement, every player, including those on the bench, will take part in a penalty shoot-out.
We also must add, that this appears to be a full-sized match – as opposed to many legend-based futsal or indoor tournaments.
Legends Football League: Man Utd Squad
Branded the ‘Ultimate Red Devils reunion squad’, there have been six players confirmed for the Manchester United squad so far in the Legends Football League – they are as follows:
- Dimitar Berbatov
- Ryan Giggs
- Wes Brown
- Antonio Valencia
- Mikael Silvestre
- Juan Sebastian Veron
More may be announced in due time.
Legends Football League: World XI Squad
There have been six players confirmed for the World XI squad so far in the Legends Football League – they are as follows:
- Rivaldo
- Roberto Carlos
- Robert Pires
- Didier Drogba
- Clarence Seedorf
Again, there could be more added in the future.
Where and when is the Legends Football League taking place?
The first match will take place at the Al Maktoum Stadium on November 18th 2023.
Following the opening game in Dubai, the six-team league will travel to India in January 2024 for its second game, followed by matches in Qatar, UK and France.
