The latest round of Premier League Hall of Fame nominees have been listed with a few Manchester United legends involved.

Nemanja Vidic is one of the best defenders in the history of Manchester United right up there alongside the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Jaap Stam at the club.

The Serbian centre-half was a part of Sir Alex Ferguson‘s double-winning side in 2008 which included that famous Moscow win over Chelsea.

Signed for just £9m, he turned out to be a real bargain during his eight-year stay at Old Trafford. Now, he’s been recognised by the Premier League with a nomination for him to be named in the Hall of Fame.

After his nomination, his former Serbian teammate and also former United player Nemanja Matic sent him a message on Instagram, here’s what he said.

Nemanja Matic sends Nemanja Vidic a message

The two Serbian legends are known to be close, and Matic sharing a message to Vidic just proves that.

Posting on Instagram, Matic put up a photo of himself and Vidic which was coupled with a caption.

“#HallOfFame PL candidate! Well deserved legend”, Matic wrote. He then added the famous Vidic chant, “Nemanja whoa Nemanja whoa, he comes from Serbia…”

Saying that Vidic deserves a nomination is an understatement, as the defender should actually be a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame.

Which other Manchester United players are nominated for the Hall of Fame?

In total, there are five Manchester United players nominated to be inducted into the Hall of Fame class of 2024.

Michael Carrick, Andrew Cole, Gary Neville, Edwin van der Sar and Vidic have all been nominated to join the eight United legends already inducted.

2021 saw David Beckham, Eric Cantona and Roy Keane all inducted as the hall was opened. 2022 then saw Paul Scholes, Peter Schmeichel and Wayne Rooney enter, with last year seeing Ferdinand and Sir Alex inducted.

There should be no doubt over more Old Trafford greats entering this year and in future years given how dominant the Reds were for so many years.
