New Manchester United signing Leny Yoro is made his first appearance for the Red Devils in a pre-season win over Rangers.
Leny Yoro played an impressive 45 minutes in Manchester United’s friendly, making a positive first impression.
This was a good chance for Leny Yoro to get used to playing with goalkeeper Andre Onana, however, many of United’s top stars were missing.
Now in a new interview with MUTV, Leny Yoro has expressed his excitement to link up with one Manchester United teammate in particular.
Leny Yoro keen to combine with Kobbie Mainoo
Leny Yoro joins a young core of players at Manchester United, led by FA Cup Final goalscorers Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
Yoro believes that having other top young talents in the team alongside him will be beneficial to his development.
He said: “I think this will help me a lot, because when there is a young player it is more easy for you to adapt to the country, to the team.”
Yoro then named Kobbie Mainoo as a player he is keen to soon play alongside.
He added: “I’m really close to Kobbie, so this will help me a lot.
“He sent me a message, he’s a really good guy, and I’m really excited to see him in the pitch.”
Mainoo and Yoro part of United’s spine
Leny Yoro, 18, is younger than Mainoo, 19. Together they can be a key part of Manchester United’s spine for many years to come.
They are both going to be important pieces of the team for the club to build around. United’s midfield plans revolve around Mainoo, while the same can now be applied defensively with Yoro.
United also have two young forwards, Rasmus Hojlund, 21, and Joshua Zirkzee, 23, while Alejandro Garnacho has just turned 20.
This is a team now set up to win long-term, the quick fix era is soon to be behind us, thankfully.
