Michael Carrick is doing a hell of a job at Middlesbrough this season and is now just one step away from Carabao Cup glory.
Since Michael Carrick departed Old Trafford, he’s gone from strength to strength as a manager with Middlesbrough.
He took them to the playoffs last season and while this season hasn’t quite been the same consistent form, he’s just four points adrift of the promotion places.
However, it’s not his Championship achievements that are catching attention – but what he’s doing in the Carabao Cup.
Carrick has taken Boro to the semi-finals of the competition and last night they won their first leg against Chelsea which leaves him 90 minutes from a cup final.
After this, Manchester United fans have reacted to his managerial displays.
Manchester United fans in awe of Michael Carrick’s displays
Taking to X, fans were delighted for Carrick with one fan pointing out that he could be a better manager than Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.
“Michael Carrick showing Gerrard and Lampard what an actual class manager looks like.”
Another fan agreed: “Lampard and Gerrard, let Michael Carrick show you how to be a top-class manager.”
While a third upped the claim to make it that Carrick is the best of his generation from that England squad.
“Carrick being quietly good at management while the rest of the golden generation mess it up is very ironic.”
While a fourth fan pointed out that Carrick is just two games away from matching Erik ten Hag‘s legacy.
“Carrick might equal Ten Tag’s achievements and he’s the manager of Boro”.
Finally, another admitted he’d “love to see Carrick manage United one day.”
United should take advantage of this with loans
With a United great at the helm and playing excellent football, Middlesbrough should be the primary target for United to send youngsters on loan.
Carrick has demonstrated with a few already such as United linked Hayden Hackney that he can develop them, so why don’t we send some of our top prospects there for game time?
The likes of Dan Gore and Isak Hansen Aaroen need to play and they’d learn so much under Carrick.
