Manchester United fans made their feelings clear on Jadon Sancho after his performance for Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid in the Champions League final at Wembley on Saturday.

Jadon Sancho played out his final match for Borussia Dortmund in the 2023-24 season ahead of his loan deal expiring on 30th June.

The 24-year-old Manchester United loanee returned to the German club in January after Dortmund agreed a six-month deal in the January transfer window.

Sancho had made only three appearances for the Red Devils in the 2023-24 campaign before he was frozen out of the United first team.

The Dortmund player hit back at Erik ten Hag last September after the United manager publicly criticised Sancho following a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Erik ten Hag revealed at the time that Sancho’s training was not up to the standard expected and the United winger was left out of the squad for the Arsenal match.

Sancho wasted no time in responding and staunchly defended himself on social media, with the United star saying he conducted himself “very well in training.”

The England international was subsequently excluded from the first team and Sancho’s long-term future at Old Trafford was plunged into doubt.

Man Utd misfit Sancho vs Real Madrid

Jadon Sancho has impressed during his second spell with Borussia Dortmund, with the Manchester United misfit playing a key part in the Champions League campaign.

The Three Lions winger earned rave reviews for his performance for Dortmund in the first-leg semi-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain at the Westfalenstadion.

Sancho also showed his quality in the second-leg quarter-final tie against Atletico Madrid, with Dortmund picking up a superb 4-2 win at home in April.

Dortmund reached the Champions League final after sweeping aside PSG in the semi-finals, while Real Madrid knocked Bayern Munich out of the competition.

Sancho started the Champions League clash against Madrid on Saturday evening and the United loanee was lively in the first half at Wembley.

Dortmund put in a superb showing against Los Blancos in the first half, but the Bundesliga club were unable to break the deadlock before the half-time whistle.

Sancho made very little impact in the second half against Madrid, but the United loanee recklessly lost the ball in the build-up to Los Blancos’ opener.

Dani Carvajal broke the deadlock late in the second half after sending a powerful header into the back of the net following a Toni Kroos corner.

Vinicius Junior then doubled Madrid’s advantage nine minutes later with a superb finish and sealed the Champions League trophy for the Los Blancos.

Man Utd fans react to Sancho in Champions League final

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, slammed Sancho’s mistake that led to Dani Carvajal’s opener in the Champions League final.

But the Red Devils supporters were baffled at how Sancho stayed on the pitch in the second half after Karim Adeyemi was withdrawn and replaced with Marco Reus.

“Ten Hag was onto something when he experimented with Sancho in the No 10 position; he’s so predictable. Receives the ball, will dribble a little before passing it back,” one fan said.

Another added: “Taking Adeyemi off and leaving Sancho on was f*****g stupid.”

A third wrote: “Why on Earth would Dortmund sub off their best attacker in Adeyemi (leaving the ghost of Jadon Sancho on)? Baffling move.”

“TBH, I think it’s a bad sub by [Edin] Terzic, too. You lost all your pace now… Should have taken Sancho off instead,” someone else commented.

While a fifth X user posted: “Sancho should’ve been the one subbed off not Adeyemi.”

And a sixth tweeted: “Big mistake, taking off Adeyami, if you’re taking off a wide man, surely it’s Sancho?”

Somebody else argued: “Sancho giving the ball away before the corner was pretty unforgivable. Just put your foot through it.”
