Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has dropped another hint about his future in football after he left his role as Wales manager in 2022.
Ryan Giggs took his first steps into coaching after he became a player-coach in 2013 under former Manchester United manager David Moyes.
The 50-year-old Welshman had a brief spell as interim United manager after David Moyes’ ill-fated spell at Old Trafford ended with his sacking.
Giggs was promoted to the role of assistant manager when Louis van Gaal succeeded David Moyes at United and worked under the Dutchman.
Following Louis van Gaal’s sacking in 2016, the United legend left Old Trafford and eventually took his first steps into management as Wales manager in 2018.
Giggs secured Euro 2020 qualification for Wales during his time in charge, but the former United star took a step back from his duties in 2020.
The former Wales boss was arrested in 2020 after allegations of assault made against him, which Giggs staunchly denied.
Giggs resigned from the Wales managerial role in 2022 ahead of his trial over the allegations he faced, with the United legend cleared of all charges in 2023.
Giggs on his future in football
Former Wales manager Ryan Giggs hasn’t returned to management since he fought to clear his name after the allegations made against him.
The Manchester United legend has refused to rule out a potential return to the dugout and flirted with the idea of managing again in the future.
Giggs has since taken up a new role at League Two side Salford City, a club he co-owns with fellow United legends who were part of the ‘Class of ‘92.’
According to VOI.ID, Giggs recently opened up about his future in football during a press conference in Indonesia’s capital city of Jakarta.
Maybank Indonesia confirmed on its website that Giggs was holding a live event in Jakarta on 18th May at the Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center.
VOI.ID reports that the former Wales international has left the door open for a sensational return to management.
“Yes, hopefully [soon back to training],” Giggs said.
“So yes, hopefully, it will return to coaching soon. Yes, let’s wish you all the best.”
Giggs on Man Utd and Van Gaal
Louis van Gaal took charge of United for two seasons and lifted the FA Cup in 2016 after the Red Devils beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Wembley.
However, the former Ajax and Netherlands boss was dismissed after the FA Cup triumph, with United falling out of the top four in the 2015-16 season.
Jose Mourinho arrived as Van Gaal’s replacement and Giggs opted to make his exit from Old Trafford after the change in management.
Giggs opened up about his time under Van Gaal and admitted that he enjoyed his tutelage under the 72-year-old Dutchman.
“I enjoyed the two-year training days at Manchester United, being an assistant under Louis [van Gaal],” he said.
Giggs added: “Then I was lucky to be able to coach my country, Wales, which I love, which I really enjoy.”
