Manchester United legend Steve Bruce has insisted that only one member of the famous ‘Class of ‘92’ was the most ‘natural’ player he ever saw.

Different members of the Class of ‘92 made a name for themselves under former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson after breaking into the first team.

The likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and Phil Neville found success during their time under Sir Alex Ferguson’s tutelage.

Gary Neville and Paul Scholes spent their entire club playing career under Ferguson, while Ryan Giggs spent the large majority of his time playing for the iconic Scot.

David Beckham shot to superstardom during his time at Old Trafford before his relationship with Ferguson splintered and he signed for Real Madrid.

Nicky Butt and Phil Neville, much like Beckham, would leave the Premier League club and see out the remainder of their respective playing careers away from United.

The key figures who emerged from the Class of ’92 had incredible success at United, including being a core part of the famous team that won a treble in 1999.

However, there were other members of the Class of ’92 who failed to make the United first team, despite being tipped as highly rated prospects.

Bruce names most ‘natural’ Class of ’92 member

Speaking on talkSPORT, Steve Bruce opened up about the rise of the Class of ’92 during his time as a player at Manchester United during the 1990s.

The 63-year-old United legend admitted that he was “brutally honest” when he suggested that Ryan Giggs was the one standout member from the Class of ’92.

Bruce pointed out that fellow club legend Paul Scholes had “all sorts of problems” as a kid and there were questions raised over David Beckham’s physicality.

“Well, all of them adapted really well, the only one that I naturally saw, where you thought as soon as you watch him, was Ryan Giggs,” he said.

“I’m going to be brutally honest. I mean, Scholsey when he was a kid had all sorts of problems, all sorts of problems with his knee and psoriasis and all sorts under the sunshine. It was difficult for him.

“Would Beckham be tough enough? But certainty when he got his chance, he grasped it and all.”

Bruce on Man Utd legend Giggs

Giggs is the only player in history to lift 13 Premier League titles, with Sir Alex Ferguson even naming him as one of the four world-class players he managed.

Bruce insisted that the 50-year-old former United star was an “absolute superstar” at only the age of 14 and showed off his raw ability on the pitch.

However, the former Hull City and Newcastle boss suggested the likes of Gary Neville and Phil Neville only made it because of the “dedication” they had to put in.

“I mean, Giggs was an absolute superstar at 14,” Bruce continued.

“I remember him training with us when he was 14, 15 and we thought, ‘Who was this little kid?’

“And he’s playing against Viv Anderson, who was England’s right-back, and basically taking the mickey out of him, where Viv in the end was having a little bop at the kid.

“You couldn’t catch him. He was so natural. He glided across the pitch where everything was so natural. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him out of breath.

“He had a wonderful capacity to dribble past people just effortlessly and a natural ability.

“All of the others, the two Nevilles in particular, hard work, attitude, dedication to the whole thing made them a player.”
