Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been named in the Europa League Team of the Season.
There are some awards that players dream of winning, like the Ballon d’Or, or for a Manchester United academy star, the Sir Matt Busby player of the season.
Marcus Rashford has just lived that particular dream. Voted as United’s player of the season. The Ballon d’Or remains a lofty goal.
Other awards and accolades don’t quite have the same prestige, but they are nice to earn regardless. Take the ‘Europa League Team of the Season’ vote for instance.

Europa League player of the season
UEFA gathered a ‘technical observer panel’ of experts to select a best XI from the past 2022/23 season in the Europa League, recently won by Sevilla.
One Manchester United player was named, with Marcus Rashford selected as part of a front three.
There were a couple of familiar names too, with former United stars Nemanja Matic and Chris Smalling also selected after helping Roma reach the final.
Four Sevilla players made the team, although Manchester United loanee Alex Telles was not among them.
There was good reason for Marcus Rashford to make the Europa League team of the season despite Manchester United’s quarter-final exit – it shouldn’t have been too much hard work for UEFA’s experts.
Rashford finished as the competition’s joint top scorer with six goals from nine games, along with Union Saint Galloise’s Victor Boniface – six goals from 10 matches.
Next season, bring on the Champions League.
