Manchester United youngster Sam Murray is celebrating after signing his first professional contract.

Sam Murray communicated the news via Instagram, that he has put pen to paper on the deal.

He wrote: “Happy to sign my first professional contract with @manchesterunited. A proud moment for me and my family. The hard work continues!”

Sam Murray signs professional deal

Sam Murray was part of the Manchester United side which won the FA Youth Cup in 2022, starting in six out of seven games including the final.

United signed the promising left-back from Huddersfield Town and he has been rising through the ranks, with 46 games at under-18s level in total.

He has stepped up to playing under-21s too, with 17 appearances, all of which have come this past season, including five in the EFL Trophy.

Murray was also invited on Manchester United’s winter tour of Spain, and played 45 minutes against both Cadiz and Real Betis, selected by Erik ten Hag.

We picked him out as one of our players to watch in 2023, and United seem to agree, tying the 18-year-old down to a new deal.

It is likely he heads on pre-season tour to the US and will get a chance to impress. United are well covered at left-back, with Alvaro Fernandez returning too, but that doesn’t stop Sam Murray from stating his case.

Another strong showing for the under-21s might even end up with a loan move midway through next season.
