Manchester United fans have sent out a clear-cut message after Lille defender Leny Yoro is reportedly on the verge of completing a sensational transfer to Old Trafford.
Manchester United completed their first major signing under the Ineos era at Old Trafford with their acquisition of Joshua Zirkzee this summer.
The Red Devils landed Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee in a deal worth £36.54m from Serie A side Bologna.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has seen his Ineos team take control of football operations at the Premier League club after his minority stake purchase in 2023.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to reinforce the first-team squad options for Erik ten Hag, who was retained as United manager after Ineos’ end-of-season review.
The 71-year-old British billionaire is keen to restore United’s prestige in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era and take the Red Devils back to the top of English football.
Alongside bolstering the club’s attacking options with acquisitions like Zirkzee, United are set to strengthen the defensive options at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.
Yoro flies to UK for Man Utd medical
According to Sky Sports on Wednesday, Leny Yoro has flown out to the UK for his medical ahead of a stunning move to Manchester United.
It is believed that United have agreed a deal worth over £50m with Ligue 1 side Lille and agreed personal terms in principle with French defender Yoro.
Yoro is under contract with Lille until 2025 and had been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid before the French club accepted United’s bid for him.
It is believed that the 18-year-old centre-back would have preferred a move to the Spanish capital, despite United’s fierce interest in the player.
However, Sky Sports claims that United have been ‘working to convince’ Yoro to make the move to Old Trafford this summer amid Madrid’s interest.
Yoro, who has made 60 senior appearances for Lille, has been one of three defenders that United have been targeting this summer.
Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite and Bayern Munich star Matthijs de Ligt, who worked under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, have been heavily linked with United.
Man Utd fans react to Yoro’s medical news
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, made their feelings clear on the news that Yoro is set to undergo his medical in the UK.
Red Devils supporters wasted no time in reminding rival fans about the ‘United pull,’ despite the club’s struggles since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
United fans insisted that the Red Devils are the only club capable of ‘pulling’ a player towards them when a team like Real Madrid are interested in signing someone.
“Yoro is on his way to Manchester for his medical. [The] United pull is insane,” one fan said.
Someone else added: “Nothing can beat the Manchester United pull. Welcome to United, Leny Yoro.”
A third commented: “Manchester United took Joshua Zirkzee from AC Milan’s hands, and then they took Leny Yoro from Real Madrid! Manchester United PULL without Champions League football is INSANE!”
“[The] Manchester United pull is bigger than Real Madrid. Welcome to the bigger club, Leny Yoro,” another said.
The United Stand presenter Beth Tucker wrote on X: “Yoro to United! Not been this excited for a transfer in a long time! Absolutely HUGE from [Ineos] beating Madrid to a transfer. 18 years old, huge potential, huge prospect. Writing the wrongs of when [Raphael] Varane signed for Madrid over us years ago. United pull still works.”
Somebody else posted: “The Leny Yoro deal might well have cemented the fact that the only club in the world which could match the aura and the pull of Real Madrid is Manchester United FC. You wouldn’t see this happen to any other club in the world. Never!”
While another tweeted: “Rejecting Madrid [and] UCL to join United. Yoro, you beauty. Other [Premier League] clubs can only dream of having such a pull.”
An eighth said: “Leny Yoro really rejected the Champions League winners to come to United who are in the Europa League. Crazy pull.”
