Manchester United’s stars all played their part in a hard fought team performance away at Aston Villa.
Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay scored Manchester United’s goals against Aston Villa, and both strikes had something in common – they were both set up by defenders.
It was Harry Maguire‘s knockdown which set Hojlund up, before Diogo Dalot‘s cross late on gave McTominay the chance to attack it.
Both players were superb in the 2-1 win, defending tenaciously as well as contributing in attack.
Lou Macari praises Manchester United duo
Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot were both praised after the game by former Manchester United man Lou Macari.
Macari spoke to MUTV, commenting that he has been pleasantly surprised by Dalot’s recent performances.
He said: “Every single set play he went forward for, he seemed to get on the end of it. Harry Maguire was brilliant.
“Dalot is one of them whose come on as leaps and bounds, I never thought he was that good a right-back, I always thought he was capable and always could get by, but in the past few months, he gets forward quite easily, gets in the opposition box and he’s a problem.
He added that he was impressed at the other end too, commenting: “Defensively he did his job.”
Wes Brown agrees with Maguire and Dalot praise
Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown also picked out Maguire and Dalot for praise after the 2-1 win.
He said: “Maguire has made some serious clearances, really strong headers.”
On Dalot, he added: “I thought he was man of the match.”
Brown also praised Scott McTominay, commenting: “He’s absolutely been brilliant, he’s been doing it all season.”
