Manchester United have made a new improved offer for transfer target Jarrad Branthwaite.

A new bid has been submitted for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, with the Red Devils not giving up on the defender.

A deal for Branthwaite has been on ice, after Manchester United’s first offer for the defender was turned down.

Now, according to The Mail, Manchester United have made a new offer to try and thrash out a deal with Everton.

Manchester United second bid for Branthwaite

Manchester United’s second bid for Jarrad Branthwaite is at £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons, £50 million total.

This is an increase on the original bid in early June of £38 million plus £5 million.

Everton have been holding out for a more substantial price of £70 million, a fee United have no intention of paying.

Branthwaite has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United, The Times has reported.

HITC reports regarding United’s second bid for Branthwaite: “Whilst not demanding a move, has made it known to the club [Everton] that he would like the chance to switch to Old Trafford.”

However, the bad news comes via The Athletic, who report Everton have ‘no intention’ to accept Manchester United’s latest offer.

How Jarrad Branthwaite and Matthijs de Ligt deals fit together

Crucially, the Jarrad Branthwaite bid is not coming at the expense of a move for Matthijs de Ligt.

There is a recognition Manchester United need two new centre-backs and the Red Devils would like to sign them both.

The move for De Ligt is more of a pivot following a deal for Jean Clair-Todibo falling through after UEFA banned moves between Manchester United and Nice, with both clubs part-owned by Ineos and set to compete in the Europa League.

The deal for the Dutchman is expected to be more do-able. De Ligt is keen on a move to Manchester United, with the deal held up by Netherlands involvement at Euro 2024.
