The news of Leny Yoro being set to join Manchester United is a bombshell on football and now Real Madrid are reeling.

Centre-back has been a priority for much of the summer at Carrington with Ineos keen to improve on the area which was a weak spot last season.

After Raphael Varane departed it looked like a necessity that Manchester United bolstered their options at centre-half.

Now, it looks increasingly likely that the signing to do this will be a generational talent in the form of Leny Yoro from Lille.

This comes as it was reported on Wednesday that Yoro was set to travel to Manchester before joining Erik ten Hag’s squad.

There has been fear among fans that Real Madrid could return and hijack the deal, but they’ve reacted.

How Real Madrid have reacted to Leny Yoro joining United

Despite Yoro to Madrid long looking a formality, Los Blancos now look set to miss out on their man, with Yoro and his family preferring a move to Manchester.

Now according to the Spanish and Real Madrid journalist Alberto Pereiro from Onda Cero, Madrid has accepted their fate and won’t be attempting to hijack the deal.

He tweeted that Madrid sold Rafa Marin with the thinking they’d sign Yoro and he’d say yes. But now, there is a total breakdown of the deal and they’ll have to find an alternative.

Along with this, Spanish journalist Rodra explained that Madrid was not willing to spend the money on Yoro and in the end it was the player who decided to move to Old Trafford.

Yoro was Madrid’s plan and they viewed him as a generational talent. But they took him for granted, as he now heads to United.

So as Yoro flies into Manchester, it seems that United have no competition in their bid to sign him and we could very soon be in possession of the best defensive talent in football.

What Rio Ferdinand asked of Leny Yoro now coming to fruition

Yoro being seen as one of the only generational defenders in football right now sees United complete possibly the deal of the summer.

Rio Ferdinand was desperate for this deal to come off, which is high praise considering who Ferdinand was. Just recently he was speaking about Yoro.

“I think Real Madrid are going to take Yoro instead (of Arsenal defender William Saliba). Another French boy. They have got an 18-year-old, I would love him to go to Man United. I would love him to go to Man United. If you are looking, Leny Yoro, please accept Man United, please. Man United, please make the offer and please accept.”

For one of United’s best-ever defenders to give his stamp of approval, says a lot about the talent Yoro possesses. We cannot wait to see him in action for the Red Devils.
