Manchester United beat Rangers in their second pre-season friendly game, which is their final game in the United Kingdom before their pre-season tour of America.
Jadon Sancho made his long awaited return to the Manchester United first team for the game against Rangers after nearly a year away from the Red Devils side under Erik ten Hag.
United won the game 2-0 against Rangers thanks to a lovely goal taken by Amad Diallo who is surely in for a big year at Old Trafford, and a lovely Joe Hugill strike.
Here’s five things we learned from United’s victory against the Scottish giants.
Amad on fire for United
Out of the players who started, who simply have to prove themselves this season, Amad Diallo was one of the finest performers on the pitch.
The Ivorian was in and out of the United first team squad last season under Ten Hag and he certainly needs to prove himself with Alejandro Garnacho doing so well.
Amad took his goal well for the Red Devils as he cut in from the right, thanks to a good run from Mason Mount which took the defender with him, and whipped the ball into the bottom corner.
It was a glorious goal and the winger looked dangerous throughout the first half. Amad is in for a big season.
Leny Yoro’s debut rated
Earlier this week, United completed the signing of LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro, fending off competition from Real Madrid and he made his debut against Rangers.
Yoro was in from the start and played alongside Jonny Evans and the Frenchman looked assured and confident at the Murrayfield Stadium.
He played a superb pass out to Sancho on the left and showed his defensive capabilites with a brilliant last ditch tackle.
Sancho makes first appearance for United in nearly a year
After Jadon Sancho and Erik ten Hag settled their differences, the English winger was given a new lease of life under the Dutchman.
He started on the left and looked a threat for the Red Devils everytime he got the ball and formed a nice partnership with Amad.
For now his future has been resolved, and the club will be hoping Sancho can finally show his quality for the Red Devils.
Toby Collyer impresses again
Kobbie Mainoo was the last academy graduate who impressed in pre-season and teenage star Toby Collyer looks to be next in line.
Collyer put in a good performance against Rosenberg which was then followed up by another promising 45 minutes against Rangers here.
With his calmness in possession, and his ability to dribble with ease, he could be a key player for the Red Devils heading into the new season.
Hugill scores to make game safe for United
After Ten Hag rung the changes at half-time, young striker Joe Hugill came on and the former Sunderland forward took his chance.
It was a superb finish into the top corner from Hugill who certainly has potential to succeed at United.
However, with the signing of Joshua Zirkzee, it is hard to see where the forward fits in but it was a well taken goal by the youngster.
