Manchester United’s stars delivered a performance to remember at Wembley to win the FA Cup against Manchester City, sparking emotional celebrations at the final whistle.

You won’t get many more satisfactory days as a Manchester United fan than the one we witnessed on Saturday at Wembley.

Heading into the FA Cup Final, Manchester United were underdogs, yet produced a towering performance to beat rivals City 2-1, and led 2-0 for most of the game.

It was a magical performance, with United’s leaders all standing up to be counted, including veteran defender Jonny Evans, who came on as a substitute for the last 17 minutes plus stoppage time.

Jonny Evans praises Sofyan Amrabat

Jonny Evans, 36, has completed the dream comeback season at Manchester United, winning the one trophy he was missing from his collection.

It’s unclear whether Evans will sign another one year deal, with questions over many members of the Manchester United first team squad.

One of the players with question marks over his future is Morocco international midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, a starter in place of Casemiro.

Amrabat continued the form he has shown in recent weeks, saving his best performance of the season for the last one.

Evans was impressed, showing how his teammates feel about him, writing on Instagram: “Souf what a man!!

“Top pro and top man every day of the week.”

Manchester United’s current squad would be weaker without Sofyan Amrabat. He was the first choice to step in for Casemiro, amid a late injury.

New additions will be made in the summer, with outgoings expected. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are likely to leave.

United will sign a midfielder, but there’s a case to be made to re-sign Amrabat too. He has said he is open to coming back and keen for talks.

The future of manager Erik ten Hag must be firmed up first. But if Amrabat was to be brought back, Evans’ comments reflect that it would be a popular move among the players.
