Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have made their feelings perfectly clear after one of their Manchester United teammates earned a rare call-up for Euro 2024.

Both Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes are set to represent Portugal at Euro 2024 in Germany this summer after Roberto Martinez named them in his squad.

Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo have been called up for England under Gareth Southgate, while Harry Maguire is set to miss out for the Three Lions due to injury.

Scott McTominay has been named in the Scotland squad and Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund have been called up for the Denmark squad ahead of Euro 2024.

Manchester United players will also feature at the Copa America, with Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez in the squad for defending champions Argentina.

Dalot and Fernandes have been key figures for Portugal under Roberto Martinez, who replaced Fernando Santos as head coach in 2023.

Portugal enjoyed an impressive Euro 2024 qualifying campaign under ex-Belgium boss Martinez, with the Euro 2016 champions winning all 10 of their matches.

Man Utd player earns rare Euro 2024 call-up

Tom Heaton on Monday announced that he would be linking up with the England squad after being “asked” by Gareth Southgate to return to international duty.

The 38-year-old Manchester United shot-stopper has only been capped three times for the Three Lions, with his last appearance coming against France in 2017.

However, Tom Heaton was included in the England squad under Southgate for the Euro 2024 qualifiers and for the Nations League in 2019.

The former Burnley and Bristol City player took to Instagram and posted an emotionally charged message after being called up for England.

“Incredibly honoured to be asked by Gareth to join the squad,” he wrote.

“To get the call to go to a major tournament, to help in anyway [sic] I can and pass on my experience is a proud moment.

“We have a great squad, I’m excited and can’t wait to join the group.”

Dalot and Fernandes were both in full agreement that Heaton’s place in the England squad was deserved.

However, Fernandes went one step further by praising England international Heaton as a leader before congratulating him on his call-up.

“Great leaders are always welcome in any place congratulations big man [sic],” Fernandes wrote.

Dalot added: “What a lad! Well deserved mate [sic].”

“Unbelievable Heats,” Benni McCarthy wrote, adding a raising hands emoji before posting: “Good luck mate.”
