Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s long-term future at Manchester United remains unclear.

While most Manchester United fans would fully support the departures of Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek – this is one that could spark plenty of debate.

You only need to look back at May’s wonderful FA Cup final victory over rivals Man City to understand what Aaron Wan-Bissaka brings to the table.

And what his departure would remove from Erik ten Hag’s roster.

There are still few defenders on the planet superior to him in one-v-one situations. Jeremy Doku, at Wembley, became the latest winger locked down and caught in ‘The Spider’s’ web.

But with the Daily Mail reporting that West Ham United could offer Wan-Bissaka a fresh start away from Old Trafford, the Red Devils have a decision to make.

Do they cash in now, with only 12 months left on the former Crystal Palace defender’s contract? Or do they hand Wan-Bissaka a new deal?

Do they feel they can genuinely sign an upgrade at right-back – Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong continues to be linked – or would this be biting off more than United can chew during a summer where their focus is already on bringing in reinforcements up top, at centre-half, left-back and in midfield too?

West Ham want Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Stuart Pearce, the West Ham legend who was also part of David Moyes’ coaching staff at the London Stadium, would be delighted to see Wan-Bissaka don the claret and blue.

His enthusiasm, however, will certainly not be shared by each and every member of a Man United fanbase who have grown to adore Wan-Bissaka’s trademark slide tackles and his penchant for providing big performances on the big occasions.

“I think it would be a really good move for both club and player,” Pearce tells talkSPORT (9 July, 11.40am) when asked about Wan-Bissaka’s potential arrival at West Ham.

The Hammers are not the first club to be mentioned as a potential destination for a man who joined Man United in a £50 million deal under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in 2019.

Galatasaray have been linked. The Turkish Super Lig giants are in the market for a right-back, as confirmed by their head coach Okan Buruk.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Serie A champions Inter Milan were also hoping to land Wan-Bissaka on a three-year contract. Man United are reportedly demanding more than the £10 million fee the Nerazzuri are prepared to offer, however.

Galatasaray and Inter Milan linked with FA Cup winner

Inter, the report adds, now plan to put Wan-Bissaka on the backburner until the summer of 2025, when he may be a free-agent.

President Beppe Marotta, meanwhile, insists that Inter’s transfer business is done for this window. The 2010 treble winners have snapped up Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi for free after their contracts at Napoli and FC Porto expired.

The Man United-linked Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez is also due to arrive.

“We have signed the contracts for Zielinski and Taremi. Then, the team is already competitive in itself,” Beppe Marotta tells Sky Italia. “We have to close the goalkeeper (deal), who will be Martinez. The team is competitive and ready to go.”

When pressed further on whether Inter could make any more signings after Martinez, Morotta said; ‘I would say no’.”
