Manchester United have completed the signing of Joshua Zirkzee. Now we take a look at who could be next…

The first signing of the Ineos era at Manchester United is Netherlands forward Joshua Zirkzee.

Now as we enter mid-July, expect a flurry of signings with international tournaments complete, and a desire to get players in before the pre-season tour.

Defence and midfield are priority positions where we expect Manchester United to focus next. Here is a look at the next three potential additions…

Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt’s transfer to Manchester United is expected to follow Joshua Zirkzee’s. At this stage, it would be more of a surprise if it did not go ahead.

De Ligt is willing to take a pay cut to join United, where he would reunite with his former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.

Striking a deal with Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite looks increasingly difficult, which makes the De Ligt deal hugely important.

United are working to agree a fee with Bayern, who have been big spenders so far this window. Bayern now need to sell players to add more players, and a deal could be struck around £40 million.

Manuel Ugarte

Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte is Manchester United’s top midfield transfer target. A move can now move ahead with the Copa America finished.

Ugarte is keen on a move to Manchester United, according to Fabrizio Romano, despite only moving to Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

PSG are restructuring their team and could be willing to cash in on Ugarte at around £50 million, and the midfielder could replace Casemiro at Old Trafford.

Leny Yoro

Manchester United have struck a deal with Lille for the signing of Leny Yoro, according to reports from France.

The hold-up has been Yoro taking his time to decide on the move, with the centre-back’s original preference being Real Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano reports Lille are encouraging Yoro to take the move to Manchester United as it is better for them, with Real refusing to meet their asking price.

We are going to be positive and predict Manchester United make a statement and get this deal done. It is now taking on added importance considering the impasse over Branthwaite.

Who else could sign…

Other potential targets include Xavi Simons, Ferdi Kadioglu, Ivan Toney, Sofyan Amrabat, and a revived move for Jarrad Branthwaite.

Don’t rule out a surprise or two emerging over the coming fortnight.
