Manchester United’s stars needed to produce a strong performance against Real Betis and they stepped up.
A 4-1 win was probably above expectation against a tough Spanish side who have conceded only 25 goals in 24 La Liga games this season.
United have one foot into the Europa League quarter-finals, with the second leg in Spain next week.
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Wout Weghorst scored the goals, on a night where they were spread around.

This was unchartered territory for Wout Weghorst, who scored his first goal at Old Trafford in a Manchester United shirt, and just his second for the club.
Weghorst was emotional as he ran to celebrate his 83rd minute strike, on a night where he had previously seen four shots miss the target or be blocked.
He posted on Instagram after the game, writing: “Magical atmosphere at Old Trafford again! TEAM 💯💪
“Thank you all for the incredible support.”
The message of unity was also presented by star midfielder Casemiro, who completed all 90 minutes in the victory.
He posted: “Great performance from the whole team. This is the way. Everyone together!”
Bruno Fernandes wrote simply: “Great performance and win.”, while Marcus Rashford posted: “This response was much needed. See you guys at Old Trafford on the weekend!”
This was the perfect way to respond after a freak result at the weekend. Erik ten Hag’s side have a habit of bouncing back.
United are at home to Southampton at the weekend and will hope for another statement win. This victory will rebuild the team’s confidence, and calm some of the media hysteria.
