Manchester United have held talks with the agents of Jeremie Frimpong and the player is reported to be keen to move.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano told The United Stand that talks between United and Frimpong’s representatives went well.
He explained: “There was a meeting between the agent of Jeremie Frimpong and Manchester United.
“The meeting was positive. He is one of the names they have in the list. The player would be happy to move.”
Frimpong keen on United
Romano also explained that Frimpong’s agents have also met with Bayern Munich and Barcelona. However, the Spanish sides’ cash troubles will likely rule them out.
Bayern also have a clear cut first choice with Benjamin Pavard, who has put talks on his future on hold until the end of the season.
Romano told his own YouTube channel last December that Frimpong was keen on a move to the Premier League.
Manchester United’s own interest in Frimpong depends on a decision being made between Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.
Manager Erik ten Hag explained last week that he viewed the battle as a very open one between the two.
He explained at his pre-Everton press conference: “I think it’s really close, the competition between them. Maybe Aaron gives you a little bit more defending, Diogo gives you maybe a little more offence.
“But I have to say I think they both have made progress in both areas, so it’s really close.”
Dalot’s contract expires in 2024. United may simply be doing due diligence with regard to Frimpong, and learning that he is keen on a move, obviously helps to make the club’s task easier.
Frimpong has scored eight goals this season and has nine assists. At the weekend he featured as Leverkusen beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1.
